24×7 Server Management

DataPoint customers have complete Administrator control over their servers and can load and configure any applications that they wish. We load the Windows Server 2003 Operating System onto the server and provide our customers with an administrator login. DataPoint also provides three standard hardware configurations; however, you can provide your own servers for management. You receive 1Mbps of bandwidth and may purchase additional bandwidth.

DataPoint monitors the server resources and alerts you if thresholds are exceeded. The resources monitored include: CPU, Memory, Hard drive, and Bandwidth utilization. DataPoint uses the Solarwinds and Dell Open Manage software platforms to conduct monitoring. In addition, we monitor the hardware and replace any failing or failed parts.

Virus Scanning

Virus scan software is installed on each server and updated routinely. DataPoint is alerted if any virus infected files are detected.

DNS

DataPoint hosts and manages DNS for all managed server domains.

Hardware Maintenance

• In the event that hardware is beginning to fail or server failure, DataPoint replaces the hardware.
• If immediate hardware replacement is not possible, we build you a new server using an online server running Windows Server 2003.
• Your data is restored from backup onto the new server, and turned over to you for configuration to your specifications.

Security Updates

Microsoft releases critical security updates on a weekly and monthly basis. DataPoint monitors these software update releases, and applies them during scheduled maintenance windows.

Nightly Backups

DataPoint performs nightly backups on the server’s operating system and data files. These backups are run to a Dell Tape Library. If you wish, we can include specific backups for Exchange, MSSQL, and Oracle. We perform a full backup once a week and maintain two days of differentials. All files are automatically stored for two days, and we can accommodate longer retention periods. You may request data restores at any time.
